[Takes place the night of the day Christian and Harry left Liam's -- here.]

Johnny lay curled up in bed, his arms wrapped around Leopold, trying to fight off the nauseous feeling in his stomach. Liam had told him what had brought Robert all the way out here so unexpectedly that afternoon, that Carstairs' lawyers were trying to play a trick with the witnesses. They were calling all the kids who'd been at the house that night to testify at his trial, the first trial, including the ones who weren't ready -- Sara, Linus, Ben and others who were being cared for elsewhere. Liam had told him not to worry about it yet, that the Crown lawyers had just gotten the word and had barely started working on a response, a strategy to deal with it. Time enough to worry later if they failed. But all Johnny could think of was that bastard going free, and he wished more than anything that Christian was there to hold him and tell him it was going to be all right. He closed his eyes and thought, Christian? Are you there?

Marton breaks the news of the impending new arrival to the family.

Marton discovered that his luck was in when he wandered into the living room for breakfast to find almost everyone was there. He helped himself to toast and eggs, took his seat and poured himself a cup of coffee from the pot on the table. "I've got something I need to talk to you all about." he said before starting to eat. "So if you could just hang around a bit after breakfast, I'd appreciate it."

That night....following this.

Shannon finished patrolling around her den and stopped in front of the gate. It was late and her master was sleeping, but there was nothing dangerous near and she was sure he'd be safe alone for a while. She wouldn't be gone long, but her puppy had had long enough to visit with Harry and it was time to fetch her home.

“You can say no.” Marton told him mildly, having expected something of a similar reaction but confident common sense would prevail.

Harry strolled outside into the gardens of Palace Proper, blinking in the bright sunlight, kitten tucked into his sweatshirt pocket, and a book in his hand. It was just too nice to stay inside any longer, but he wasn't about to start working again, even if Orlando was off checking into what the state of his office was after as long as he'd been away. And he wasn't going to leave Willow penned up all alone either, but he figured that there was only so much trouble she could get into out here. After all -- she was still pretty slow.

Christian and Cillian get together to finish that lunch…

“...you just can’t imagine how beautiful it was. And we could see it all from our little balcony at our room! And it smelled of the sea. I adore the ocean...I’d never seen it before I came here, you know? Jason took me the first time...I love the sound of the water. This place was just perfect though, little piece of heaven for the weekend and the woman who ran the place...” Cillian continues to ramble on happily--while he’s sprawled out lazily on the rug he’d gotten Christian (shared with Shannon, of course) his speech is very animated, obviously still buzzing a bit from the weekend get away.

Johnny looked up at the clock over the sideboard. Damn. They'd finished lunch a few minutes ago -- Christian, Harry, Liam, Adrian, Charlie and Johnny himself -- and were sitting around talking over the last of their drinks. Harry finished the bottle of orange juice which had always been waiting for him and Johnny hid a grin. Lisa had sized him up the day he arrived and had quietly ensured he'd take what she'd prescribed with no fuss, after discovering his fondness for OJ.

Christian left the tray of dirty dishes on the dining table, figuring one of the kitchen staff would find it there, then pondered what to do next. He padded down the hall, 'listening' to the house's relative silence and locating the presence he sought with little trouble. He stopped in front of a panelled door, cracking it open and sticking his head in. "Hi," he said. "Got a minute?"

Christian nudged open Johnny's door, the tray in his hands making things a tad difficult, but he managed. Once inside, he let the door swing shut and closed it with his boot heel, almost instantly spotting his somewhat battered lover curled up in the bed with Leopold. His eyes were closed but Christian could tell he wasn't sleeping, so he walked over to the desk and deposited his load, looking around the room and muttering to himself, "There should be a... ahh, there it is." He pulled the wheeled table, something like a hospital table except far fancier, over to the side of the bed and then retrieved the tray, climbing on to the other side of the bed carefully and waiting for Johnny to notice he was there.

The car deposited Christian outside the main house and he hefted his own bag up the stairs, leaving it on the verandah outside the door. Although it was relatively early, he was expected, having called last night and his arrival being announced at the main gate. But he'd preferred not to be met, wanted to surprise, and so he wandered around the side of the house, homing in on the signal he was picking up. He stopped next to a rose bush on the gravel drive and looked along the patio running down the side of the house and then up to a particular window a couple of stories above, a grin streaking across his face as he began to realize what he'd be interrupting. Moving to lean against the wall, he crossed his feet at the ankles, folded his arms and made himself comfortable before sending, Morning, lover.

A sweating hand punched numbers into a com, then waited until someone picked up on the other end.

"Lago here -- talk to me."

"Umm, I've got some information. I wanna sell it."

"I don't buy wrapped meat, bud. You tell me what you've got, I'll tell you if I'm buyin'."

"Hey, Johnny!"

Johnny, who'd been heading down the hall past the den, stopped and poked his head in. Adrian, who'd hollered, was curled up on the sofa with Charlie watching a vidshow. "Yeah?"

"What did you get Christian for his birthday?"

Johnny blinked and his brain went blank. "Huh?"
