His tea had grown cold as Mum had talked. Using the time to toss the remainder and pour a fresh cup to regain some composure, Dominic finally sat back down. The scrap of the spoon mixing sugar into the fresh tea began to grate yet nervously he found that he couldn't stop. Mum's hand on his own forced the decision.

And yeh, she never wanted to pretend that she hadn't loved Caine -- she may regret those choices but she won't pretend that she was coerced or taken advantage of. I have no idea how she'll react if she ever sees him again, might be interesting....
