Johnny went down to dinner that night -- a few minutes early so he wouldn't have to walk across the room with everyone staring at him. Assuming they felt like staring at him, which they might or might not, but why take chances? He was embarassed enough about the argument and had felt awkward around Adrian since that morning. He'd never been particularly brave and didn't feel like testing his courage right at that moment.

Date: 2004-10-08 12:41 am (UTC)I told you in chat how much I liked this piece, (use up all my good feedback in chat- I swear) and - hell... going to go and find actual chat bit. This was right after you'd fussed about there only being one plot point in the piece:
You know what? I liked that it was that simple. Something about that just hit. [Johnny] doesn't need the big preamble, the pin you to the ground and MAKE you talk like Harry and Sean do. He's like Christian - thinks about it for several days, and then just goes for it. (like how Chrisitan did with the with Harry/Christian convo where they finally talked about the raid.)
And I think that's truly the case here- even though you weren't intending there to be a parallel, it exists, nevertheless. It's simple and it gets the job done, and you see some great character stuff (echoes Jess) in quite a short little piece.
Well done there, Angie!
