David walked down the hall beside James with Bret following close behind, "I want you to wait outside until after I've had a chance to fill her in on all this and let her get used to the idea of having a shadow," he said looking up at the taller man.

James nodded, "Yeah, good idea. Just poke your head out...I'm used to just standing around anyway," he grinned.

David nodded in response, "I'm not looking forward to this," he said as they approached Amy's door.

"You'll do fine, David," James said leaning against the wall a few feet away from Amy's door and smiling at Bret who leaned against the wall beside him. David took a deep breath and knocked.

Amy moved away from the window when she heard the knock. She opened the door and saw David there. "Hi David." She said with a grin. "Please come in."

David stepped into the room allowing her to shut the door behind him. "Hi, Amy. How are you settling in?" he decided to start with something simple and safe...he couldn't just spill it all in her doorway.

Amy closed the door and turned to face him. "I'm managing." She said. "Been having trouble sleeping, nightmares." She said as she cringed slightly at the thought of them. "I'll be ok though."

David frowned and felt bad about her having nightmares, it probably was her memory trying to come back. He had read about that happening with PTSD cases before. "I'm sorry to hear that, you know my sister Nicole might be able to give you something to help you sleep. She is a doctor in our infirmary," David said leaning against a small table. He was still avoiding the point of his being there, but he was having a hard time working out just how he was going to tell her.

"Really, do you think she could help?" Amy asked hopefully. "Would you like to sit down?" Amy offered. She's trying to figure out why David has stopped by. "I wasn't expecting you. I didn't know you paid visits to Libertines." She said.

"Yeah I think she might be able to," David said and then he sat down in the chair she offered, "Thanks...uh well I do check up on the students sometimes and do testing, but this isn't about that. I have something I need to tell you, you may want to sit down." David was starting to get nervous worrying how she'd react to the news.

"Oh, ok." Amy said as she took a seat facing David. "Is something the matter? Have I done something wrong?" She started to worry.

"No, no. Nothing like that, you are doing just fine," David assured. "What I have to tell you isn't going to be easy to hear. An Investigator visited me from Central this morning. He came to inform me that your agent William Morris was found murdered in his office last night, and that your files were the only ones missing from his office." He paused waiting to let her digest the information. He’d hoped to put it more gently than that but he had no idea how to say it any other way.

Amy sat there stunned. As David's words slowly sank in, she felt tears well up in her eyes. She had known Morris since she’d been sent to the group home. She knew his family quite well. His wife was like a mother to her, and the kids. Oh Gods. The kids. She was like a sister to them. "NO!!!!!!!" She screamed as threw herself in to David's arms. "No, Please, No!" She managed to say between sobs as she buried her head against David's chest. She was shaking uncontrollably and needed to be held. It felt as if her entire world was collapsing on her.

David wrapped his arms around the young woman trying to console her. "I'm so sorry, Amy. I'm so very sorry," he whispered pulling her more fully into his lap and allowing her to cry while he rubbed her back gently. It was taking everything he had in him to not tear up himself.

Amy cried for several minutes before she finally looked up at David. "It's because of me, isn’t it? What's going on David?" She asked as she sat up in his lap, wiping tears from her bloodshot eyes.

David tucked a lock of dark hair behind her ear tenderly, she was such a sweet girl to have to go through all of this shit and it broke his heart to see her hurting like this. "I'm sorry, but yeah I think it is because of your past, but it is NOT because of you. You didn't cause this to happen, you shouldn't blame yourself," he said softly and then took a deep breath. "I'm not sure what's going on, but I'm going to find out. You are a part of Palace now, and we protect our own, we will protect you I can promise you that much. I have someone looking into this...someone I trust and have known for years. You've met him, the man who brought you to Palace...Harry Sinclair? He's going to help. Mr. Morris was his friend as well as a business colleague," David explained.

Amy leaned into his touch when he pushed her hair behind her ear. She was so thankful that someone so gentle had been the one to tell her this. When she was found after her parents murders she was treated very unkindly at first, they assumed she had done it. It wasn't until days later that her name was cleared. Amy sniffled a bit and nodded, she knew he was right that she shouldn't blame herself but it wasn't that simple.

"You mean protect each other like family?" She asked, still wiping back tears. She has wanted to be part of a family ever since hers was taken away from her. Morris's had felt almost like family, now he was gone and she was going to have to start over again.

"Yes, other than my sister and her son Palace became my family, and now that I'm getting married well I'm inheriting quite a large family by marriage," David explained, he didn't want to tell her his life story so he left it at that hoping she'd not ask for more. "I...we won't let anything happen to you, Amy," he said softly wiping tears from her cheek.

Amy looked up into David's eyes. "Promise?" She asked in an almost childlike tone.

David smiled softly, "Promise, and you can ask Harry...I always keep my promises."

Amy smiled and gave David a kiss on the cheek before she stood. "Can I go to his funeral?" She asked as she turns away already knowing what the answer might be.

David sighed softly, "I'm sorry, normally I'd request a special allowance for it since you are still not at a Level where you can leave, but it isn't safe. We can't protect you there, whoever did this may hope you'd go. I'm sorry, but it really is for the best. I plan to send something to the funeral when I find out when it is to be. If you want you can send something too...I'll arrange for it...if you haven't any money I'll pay for it for you."

Amy sighed deeply knowing she could not attend. "I would like to send something. Something to show Samantha and the kids that I care and will always remember them and William.” Realizing he’d offered to pay for it she turns to look at David once more and blushes deeply. "I'm sorry. I can't afford it. Could you buy it if promise to pay you back?" Amy asked feeling shame for having no money.

"Amy, the reason you are here is because you are in debt, you haven't auctioned yet so I know you have no money saved...I'll pay for it, no strings attached," David said smiling.

Amy stepped forward and hugged him. "Thank you. But I do want to repay you some day." She said smiling at him. Her heart still ached for William’s family but she pushed the feeling away to dwell on it later when she was alone.

"Up to you, like I said no strings," David said returning the hug. When she stepped back he stood as well and then looked at her door knowing James was still waiting outside with Bret. "There is one more thing," he said softly.

"What?" Amy asked looking at David a bit confused, there couldn’t possibly be more could there? She wasn’t sure if she could take anymore bad news.

"Well I said we were going to protect you, so I have assigned you a bodyguard. His name is James Hetfield and he's been waiting patiently in the hall with my bodyguard Bret. Yep, I've got one...marrying into the royal family gets you one automatically," David grinned. "Want me to tell him to come in so you can meet him? Then I'll leave...I need to get back to my office. Harry will come by to see you later, and I will try and fill in Eric on everything. I think he needs to know."

When David speaks she remembers hearing word of him marring in to the royal family. She nods when he says Eric should know…and she’s grateful she doesn’t have to tell him herself. "A bodyguard for me? I would love to meet him." She replied after a moment.

"All right," David said going to the door and opening it motioning to James.

James enters the room and Amy looks up at him blinking a bit and David grins at her.

"Amy this is James, he'll be your new shadow," David said introducing them.

James smiled at the pretty young woman, poor thing having to go through all of this so young. "Nice to meet you Amy and I promise you won't even know I'm around most of the time," he said softly offering his hand to shake hers.

Amy looked up at James. "Nice to meet you." She says shaking his hand. "Actually, I could use company sometimes. So it's ok having you around. I feel alone a lot of the time." She smiled at him, and then looked at David. "Thank you." She replied as she gave him another hug.

David smiled when she hugged him again, "You're welcome. I'll see you later," David said stepping back and patting James on the shoulder. "Take good care of her," he whispered and James nodded in response.

"You know I will,” the larger man whispered.

David crossed to the door, "If you need anything at all, email me or of course Eric. Bye."

"Bye." Amy replied as David left. She looked up at James again and smiled. "You're big."

James looked down at her with his arms crossed across his chest and smiled. "Cute, girl." he thought to himself. He knew the rules of being a bodyguard, but it helped to like and feel protective of the client. He already had felt empathy for her when David had told him her story, but now meeting her and seeing how sweet she is he knew he’d have no trouble laying his life on the line for hers.
