Christian watched the teasing, joking and jostling on the dance floor with absent eyes, memory tugging at his attention and the swaying bodies of the men in their night-time camouflage of blue and silver faded and reformed. The background changed from the spinning lights and broken plaster to that of a dark night sky lit by fire and smoke and the raucous music became enemy fire, the taste in his mouth blood and ashes as he realized . . .
