It was done. Marton closed the door to his bedroom behind him and leaned on the door for a moment, head back, eyes closed. He drew in a lungful of air. Was there anything he’d missed? The police were gone, as was the body. Palace-Proper was now as pristine as it had been this morning. Only it wasn’t, was it.
