Of all the goddamned nuissances! I can't fucking believe that encounter with Julian ended up in some gossip rag. So much for slipping back into town unnoticed for some anonymous investigation. I knew word would get around eventually, but not like this. As if I didn't already need a reason to go kick Julian's ass again...I'd actually been looking to have some nice quiet relaxation in Balize...but, a quiet life is not for me I think. And I'd never admit that Claude was right, but I secretly enjoy the fact things are never so simple as they seem, or that they ever turn out quite like planned. Besides, I guess I believe in fate enough to think I was put across Ioan and Dom's paths for a reason.
Claude's a little upset with me for delaying her departure from Dnara, and I need to make a note to email her, as I haven't heard from her since I set her onto this case. I trust her totally, this one is just a bit more time sensitive. I've got to put a call (or email as it were) out to Alexis and Amy as well--Christ, but I've got too much to do on my 'vacation'. I may need Amy to get into a few places where I can't get into by...totally above board means. Julian is going down, and I really don't care what it takes to make it happen, though I have no doubt the asshole has done more than enough in the past to make anything that is used to take him down completely and totally true. I'd like to see anyone try to sweep this under the rug.
Oh, but it's good to be back in Balize...or something.
I've moved out of the Grand View (though I still have a key to get me access to the place in case I should need it--keeping a tally of favors certainly does have it's advantages) to a smaller, more...charming hotel. It's quite a few stars less, but the privacy and discretion it offers are real and not just perceived (as is the case with the Grand View). I'm seriously thinking about making it necessary for Julian to move elsewhere as well, I may just set Amy loose and let her be creative. Depends on if I'm in an evil mood when I email her. At any rate, base of operations is now a rundown hotel room that has a small (okay not so small) fortune of equipment set up. Any thief not working for me who ever tried to come in and take it would meet with quite a surprise though. Hey, 12 years of military training wasn't for nothing after all...
I think I'll head to Palace today and see if I can't meet with Mads in person about what's going on, make sure I have all the information he has to offer so I can present this all in one compact bundle for him to take to the right people. And if the right people don't want to hear it, then the papers will have quite a story...
